French media paints a distorted picture of IRAN

French actor and political activist Dieudonné M'bala M'bala, who recently paid a visit to Tehran, explains the extent to which French media distorts Iran's image.

"What I saw in Iran during my visit was entirely different from what we see on French television," said Dieudonné M'bala M'bala, who is considered as one of the most popular comedians and actors in France.

"I hardly saw any policemen or security personnel in the streets of Tehran or in its airport, but contrarily in France, everything is police-dominated from the minute you reach Charles de Gaulle Airport," he continued.

Dieudonné, who owns the Th??tre de la Main d'Or in Paris, is an outspoken critic of the Israeli government and its policies towards Palestinians.

He was recently fined €10,000 for making 'public anti-Jewish insults' and inviting historian and Holocaust questioner Robert Faurisson on stage during a stand-up comedy show last December.

"Zionists question the authenticity of the Tehran government, while they duck questions about their own legitimacy," he said.

"They gave me a one-year prison sentence just because I invited a well-recognized academic to explain his stance on the Holocaust."

With regards to the post-election turmoil in Iran, Dieudonné said: "Have you forgotten what happened in France after Nicholas Sarkozy won the presidential elections?"

"The whole country was in turmoil with young people setting fire on cars and public property."
